Suffrage Artwork on Display

On your next trip to the Propylaeum, bes ure to see this beautiful oil painting on display. Local artist Roberta Avidor created this piece of art to commemorate the suffrage centennial. Avidor, who has been to the Prop many times, created the piece as part of the Hoosier Women Artists 2020 competition with the Indiana Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commission. The women represented are three who were very active in the Indiana suffrage movement: Carrie Barnes, May Wright Sewell, and Eleanor Barker. At the bottom of the piece is the original Propylaeum and a yellow rose which was a symbol of the movement. Avidor was born in Indianapolis, moved to Michigan at a young age, attended art school in

March Prop Day

Enjoy Prop Day Lunch and program featuring Tamara Castleman discussing the exciting and tragically short life of 1930s movie star Carole Lombard. At the time of her death at age 33, Lombard was the highest paid actress in Hollywood. She was married to the wildly famous Clark Gable, and was known for her energy and performances in off-beat roles. Whether she’s writing, teaching adult formation at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, tutoring children, or speaking in front of a group, Tamara Castleman loves to share stories. Hop to the Prop Easter Egg Hunt

The Propylaeum will host the annual Hop to The Prop Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 11, at 11 a.m. The hunt includes over 400 Easter eggs and children are divided into groups by age. The Easter Bunny is also on-site for photos. The Outreach Committee, spearheaded by Joanne Solomon, hosts the event. If you would like to donate candy or money to buy candy for the Easter eggs, if you would like to volunteer to help fill Easter eggs, or participate the day of the event, please reach out to Joanne at or 317-257-4737.
