October 17th marked the first speaker in our Marilyn K. Glick Women's Enrichment Series for the 2019-2020 season. Carolene Mays-Medley, current Executive Director of White River State Park Development Commission, gave a moving and engaging talk describing both her personal and professional journies. Her emphasis was on highlighting the "bumps" in the road she had experienced and how they ultimately led her to where she is today. The Indiana Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commission, which was established to commemorate the centennial anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment in 2020, will be organizing a number of activities and events to celebrate this milestone in our state and nation’s history, as well as highlighting the individuals and organizations that played an instrumental role in securing women’s right to vote. In order to increase visibility and awareness of the 100-year anniversary, the Commission launched a website, in partnership with Indiana Humanities, to house resources, recent news, and upcoming events.
