ICW Volunteer of the Year

Hats off to Propylaeum member and current Board Member Cathy Michel. At its November 10, 2020 meeting, the Indianapolis Council of Women will be presenting Cathy the award as the Community
Volunteer of the Year. This honor, which was established in 1967, is awarded to a council member who has been an outstanding volunteer in the community.
Cathy is currently in her sixth year as a Member of the Indianapolis Propylaeum’s Board of Directors. She has led the Board and staff in actively working to increase membership as Chair of the Membership Committee. Under her tenure, the Propylaeum has been very successful in recruiting new members
For the past several months, Cathy has been hard at work as Chair of the 2020 Salon Society, the fourth year that she has held this position. Organizing Salon 2020 has been particularly challenging this year, as the Prop will be having its first Virtual Salon. The Salon Society is the Prop’s main fundraiser for the year and provides tens of thousands of dollars for maintenance and upkeep of the mansion and for our continued programs. She is a literature enthusiast and a driving force behind Pages at the Prop, which highlights local authors.
Cathy loves the Propylaeum and the rich history that comes with it. She is active in virtually every Prop activity. “She is the one going the extra mile to ensure the success of these events, sometimes doing jobs no one else wants to do” states Propylaeum member and long-time friend Cheryl Eyed.
The November 10, 2020 ICW Virtual Program starts at 10:00 a.m. This month’s speaker will be Author Bob Blaemire, author of Birch Bayh - Making a Difference.
All Indianapolis Council of Women meetings are open to Propylaeum members at no cost since the Propylaeum is an ICW member organization. Please contact Diane Tolliver at Tolliverd@aol.com to attend the event and get the zoom link.
