Propylaeum Awarded Indiana DHPA Grant

The Propylaeum has been awarded a grant from the Indiana Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology for restoration of the masonry on the carriage house. The project will entail tuckpointing of the masonry and replacement of deteriorated brick. The masonry conditions on the carriage house resulted in water infiltration which has damaged the interior of the carriage house. The only one remaining of its kind in the Old Northside Neighborhood, the carriage house tells an additional story of the property, including the Victorian horse and carriage days, the switch to automobiles, the early Children’s Museum, and the space for artist studios. The project is out for bid and we hope to complete it this fall.

This project has been funded in part by a grant from the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service’s Historic Preservation Fund administered by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology.
