Prop Members Sew Masks

Prop Member Cindy Dillman was a nurse for 24 years. “I feel like making masks is a way that I can support my profession and give back.” To date Dillman has made nearly 110 masks for IU Health, Franciscian Health, and Ascension to help with the shortage of medical supplies that hospitals have run into with the influx of patience with COVID19.

“My friend (and Prop member) Bev Watkins called to check on me and said ‘I thought you’d be sewing masks.” said Dillman. That was all the encouragement she needed to gather materials and begin sewing. “I’ve been sewing for as long as I can remember” she said. ‘My grandmother taught me to embroider when I was 7 years old and I haven’t stopped since.”

Dillman has also sewn all of the Votes for Women sashes that Prop suffragists have worn for a number of different events.

Prop Board President Rose Wernicke picked up the mantle as well and sewed 47 masks for IU Health.
