Prop Day Tradition Returns

On Wednesday, December 18 the Propylaeum will welcome Ms. Celestine Bloomfield for our Prop Day Program. Bloomfield is a member of the Storytellers Guild of Indianapolis and is a retired teacher.

Bloomfield tells stories to all ages, and tailors performances for specific occasions. She promises enjoyable, multicultural folklore, holiday stories, and personal narratives based around the holidays from her own cultural perspective.

Also for Prop Day, by popular demand, we are reviving a Prop Christmas tradition – a cookie and ornament exchange. For years Prop members and guests enjoyed the scrumptious treats of fellow members and the excitement of receiving another beautiful ornament to add to their collection.

For the cookie exchange, bring a dozen (or two or three!) of your favorite cookie or bar recipe. You may bring a quality bakery item if you don’t want to bake, but please – no store bought cookies! In turn, you may choose a dozen (or two or three!) of a variety of delicious treats other members have brought. You may bring your cookies on a disposable plate or container, and be sure to bring a container to hold the cookies you choose to take home!

For the ornament exchange, please bring an ornament with a minimum value of $10.00, appropriately wrapped for the occasion. If you bring an ornament, you may choose an ornament. Delight in watching everyone unwrap their surprises.

You can participate in one or both of these fun exchanges, or none at all and just come to delight in the festivities and admire the beauty of the Propylaeum in its Christmas splendor.
