Women's History Tea at the Prop

The Propylaeum is excited to be hosting an Afternoon Tea on Saturday, July 20, celebrating Women’s History with a program entitled “Skirting the Issue – Indiana’s Historical Women Artists and their Search for the Time and a Place to Paint.”
Professional Storyteller Stephanie Holman has been creating and sharing stories across the Hoosier state for 30 years. A past commission to tell about women artists in the Indiana History Center book, “Skirting the Issue: Stories of Indiana’s Historical Women Artists,” resulted in the tale of three Brown County artists and now has grown to include the story of Indianapolis artist Ruth Pratt Bobbs, who
lived in the Prop townhouse for many years. The stories describe the societal pressures preventing early women artists from becoming professionals, but also celebrates their perseverance and support from family and friends. Copies will be available for sale at the Tea for $29.95
We will also be selling 2020 Suffrage Centennial Propylaeum teacups and saucers. You may pre-order a teacup and saucer for $15.00 when you purchase your ticket and it will be ready for you at the event. They will also be available for sale the day of the Tea for $20.00/members and $25.00 non-members. Pre-orders limited to 1 per ticket purchased.
Please join us for this afternoon of tea, a delightful program, raffle, and lovely piano music. Tickets are $45/members and $50/non-members. Doors open at 1:15 p.m. and tea will be served at 2:00 p.m. with the program to follow. Guided tours of the Mansion will be available after the Tea. Hats of any era are encouraged!
