Summer Events at the Prop

Summer is a great time to attend informal programs and events at the Propylaeum. The membership committee and other special events

committees have been hard at work creating programs and events that appeal to a broad range of people.

Our July Prop Day program will have a fun new twist—the event will be held in the evening! Guest speaker and Prop member Carol Faenzi will present her program called “Ellis Island: First Day in America.” Faenzi will discuss her Italian roots and her book “The Stonecutter’s Aria.” Italian-themed hors d’oeuvres will be served, as well as wine.

July will also feature our annual Women’s History Tea a delightful way to enjoy an afternoon tea while learning about an important chapter in women’s art history.

The Prop is once again hosting monthly Porch Parties. Guests enjoy lively conversation, light appetizers, and a refreshing beverage on the

beautiful front porch. The Propylaeum is open for tours and membership and board committee members are on hand to answer questions, and join in the fun.

In June Coffee Morning at the Prop kicked off with over 10 attendees enjoying coffee or tea and a fresh pastry in the north east room. The social activity gave new and long-term members a chance to meet and share stories. More than one person left saying “I never knew that,” about other members.

An Open House will be held on August 2 at 5 p.m. to introduce Chef Suzanne Catering. Chef Suzanne will be opening the Café at the Prop on Monday, August 5. The open house will feature hors d’oeuvres as well as a sampling of the new Café menu. This promises to be a large event, as Chef Suzanne Catering also celebrates their 10th Anniversary.

The May Wright Sewall Leadership Award dinner and event will be held on August 15 beginning at 5:30 p.m. Marianne Glick is the 2019 May Wright Sewall Leadership Award Recipient. This program will also serve as the Propylaeum kick-off event for the 2020 Suffrage Centennial.
