Bishop Baskerville-Burrows Shares Personal Experiences

The final speaker of our 2018-2019 Women’s Enrichment Series featured Bishop Jennifer Baskerville-Burrows. Burrows spoke to a sold-out crowd on Thursday, April 25.

Baskerville-Burrows began the evening by detailing the circumstances that lead her to be in Trinity Church Wall Street on 9/11. She then went on to talk about her upbringing in the projects of New York City, her Ivy League education, and her rise in the ranks of the Episcopal Church to become the first African American Woman Bishop in the Episcopalian Church worldwide.

Baskerville-Burrows received her undergraduate degree from in historic preservation from Smith College and continued to Seminary to combine her interest in historic buildings with her call to the ministry.

With humor and grace, Baskerville-Burrows inspired all in attendance to believe that their paths in life can change many times, and that God can be found anywhere.
