Renovations Made to the Carriage House

The tenants in the townhouse apartment noticed a damp wall, and what was thought to be a small leak turned into a major repair. The chimney, flue pipe, and flat roofing on the carriage house were all replaced. The chimney had gaps in the mortar and the flat roofing had water pooling which rotted the decking beneath.

Last fall the board of directors established Restore.1410, a building fund for major repairs. A very generous lead donation funded the repairs to the carriage house and were made without affecting the operating budget. “The Restore.1410 building fund, along with our newly formed Propylaeum Legacy Endowment Fund are two pieces of the long-range plan to insure funding for he Propylaeum’s future operating, programming, and preservation needs” said board president Rose Wernicke.
