Chambers to Speak at March Prop Day

Prop member and women’s history aficionado, Jill Chambers, will speak at the Prop Day Luncheon and Program on Wednesday, March 20 at noon. Chambers’ presentation titled “Who Are These People?” will focus on women and men who were supporters of suffrage from 1850—1920 that most have never heard of—but should.

Chambers is a graduate of Ball State University and is the current president of the Indiana Women’s History Association. She is also a member of the National League of American Pen Women. A scholar of women’s history, Chambers has worked on women’s history projects for the Indiana Historical Society, Indiana Historical Bureau, and the Indiana State Museum.

In the 1970s Chambers lobbied on the state level for the National Association of Women and, much like the suffragists, she picketed the White House for the Equal Rights Amendment.
