PROGRAMS

Programs are the foundational element of the Indianapolis Propylaeum, as the place for women to learn, connect and grow. Propylaeum programs center around our mission focus of Women’s Leadership, Arts and Culture, and Historic Preservation. These focus areas allow the Propylaeum to reach diverse audiences, meeting women and the community where they are, yet offering new food for thought. The Propylaeum’s intimate setting creates the opportunity to meet people not ordinarily available.

Women's Leadership

Marilyn K. Glick Women's Enrichment Series

The Marilyn K. Glick Women’s Enrichment Series features prominent women who have contributed to the social, cultural, educational, and professional fabric of Indiana. This is an annual 3-part series, starting in October and ending in April. The 2022-23 series theme is "Life-Long Learning".

May Wright Sewall Leadership Award

The May wright Sewall Leadership Award is given to 1-2 women from the community each year who embody the spirit of the award’s namesake in civic leadership and innovation. The 2022 award winners were Janet Allen and Katherine Kiang. The event includes the award ceremony in our Carriage House, followed by a formal dinner in our Mansion.

Anonymous: Unsung Hoosier Heroines

To recognize the Indianapolis Propylaeum's 100th year at 1410 N. Delaware, we have created a new program series to honor and celebrate the incredible Hoosier heroines whose stories have gone untold. Women have been at the forefront of every great movement, every great stride that Indiana has made. However, we are not told their stories with the fervor that men’s stories are told, if at all. The goal of the Anonymous: Unsung Hoosier Heroines series is to highlight the women who have done great things in Indiana, but because of the eras that they lived they did not receive the credit.

Porch concert series

The Porch Concert Series is a 3-part series that takes place in the summer. This series features three diverse concerts performing on the beautiful Propylaeum porch. From June to August, the outdoor concerts give the community a chance to spread out and relax on the Propylaeum's expansive lawn while enjoying various styles of music. Guests are welcome to bring in their own food, and drinks are available for purchase at each concert. Stay tuned for the 2023 line-up!

Salon Society

The Salon Society event combines our mission of art and historic preservation as it is our single largest fundraiser of the year, with the majority of funds going to mansion upkeep and operations. The event features live music, a silent auction, and a unique art experience. Stay tuned for the 2023 Salon Society information.
