About The Propylaeum
Nestled in the Old Northside historic district, the Propylaeum, is a vital part of the city’s future as well as a cornerstone of its history. Founded in 1888, our mission is “to advance educational and cultural opportunities for women and the community and to maintain and preserve the historic Propylaeum.”
The Indianapolis Propylaeum is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for free self-guided tours of the mansion and grounds.
The Propylaeum Historic Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is “To advance educational and cultural opportunities for women and the community and to maintain and preserve the historic Propylaeum.”
The Propylaeum will be known for its compelling educational, cultural, and civic programs for women and the community and for the connection that it offers to the rich history of Indianapolis.
The Propylaeum achieves the mission and vision in the following ways:
Providing an historically significant place where the public, particularly Indianapolis area residents, may enjoy literature, music, and the fine arts.
